Since taking over at Aristone Optical in Fulham 16 years ago, owner Ritesh has made a point of anticipating new trends, investing in cutting-edge industry technology and providing the latest frames for all budgets and tastes.
Hence, it’s no surprise that from December Aristone will be the exclusive SW6 stockist for two premium ranges of Smart Glasses: Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarers and Exotica’s Nuance Audio. ‘The Smart Glasses concept has been around for a while, but the first products were unfashionable and unwieldy,’ says Ritesh. ‘However, in the last year the market has been transformed with an exciting new generation of devices.
Leading the field is Ray-Ban Meta. ‘I’ve worn the glasses and it was an amazing experience,’ recalls Ritesh. ‘Two embedded cameras see what your eyes see and high-quality audio is delivered by open ear headphones. So, you can record videos, take photos, listen to music, take calls, check texts – and do it all hands-free. Of course, they also have the iconic Ray-Ban style.’
Exotica’s Nuance Audio range addresses a specific issue. ‘I’d say that 90% of customers with hearing aids have problems finding comfortable glasses because there’s too much “bulk” around the ears,’ explains Ritesh. ‘Nuance Audio frames have disguised built-in hearing aids which work along your bones – it’s like bone conduction – and they can amplify voices while filtering out background noise. They are perfect for anyone with mild to moderate hearing loss.’
