Attaching the word luxury to a product is a very common marketing ploy, and it’s not always an accurate description. Not so with the Artisan Luxury Carpet range. ‘It really is a luxury brand – the name is fully justified,’ smiles Clay Miller, who has co-owned and run The Carpetstore with his brother Joe since 1992.

‘We call Artisan’s style velvet pile, and it is incredibly plush and soft underfoot. The carpets are superb quality and, since they are also hard-wearing and easy to clean, they can be fitted throughout the home, adding a touch of elegance to bedrooms, living rooms and stairs. We have been stocking the range for over five years. We have eight carpets in stock and Artisan has recently supplied us with new point of sale stands to showcase them to best effect.’
Last year Clay and Joe were approached by Amtico to become the manufacturer’s West London stockist for their luxury vinyl tiles. ‘We were delighted: they had been looking through our Instagram postings and were impressed with what we do,’ recalls Clay.
‘Amtico is hands-down the market-leader: the tiles complement every interior style and they come in a wide choice of innovative designs, laying patterns, colours and textures – and we were given access to the full range. Sales took off and, as a result, in a month or so we will be taking delivery of Amtico’s new premium collection, which is called Signature.’

The Carpetstore uses its own expert fitters for every job and the teams will take up old carpets, move furniture, trim doors and lay plyboard and hardboard. Clay and Joe also guarantee that their carpets are moth-free and customers are welcome to take swatches home.
