It’s rather a cliché to describe a business as a “local gem”, but nonetheless that’s the perfect description for the Daily Shot in Brackenbury Village. Owner Renaldo and his friendly team are a focal point for the community: serving the best coffee, fresh pastries and delicious homemade cakes, they always have time and a smile for regulars – and there are many – and new customers.
Having recently finished re-decorating the spacious interior, from December Renaldo will be introducing an expanded menu (available 8am-2pm). ‘We will have a much wider selection of dishes: for example, Parmesan Scrambled eggs with Parma Ham on Sourdough; Spinach, Mushroom and Pepper Omelette; Avocado on Toast; Smoked Salmon with Fried Egg, Chilli flakes and Caramel Tomatoes; and, of course, a full English breakfast.’
Renaldo, who had previous experience managing a coffee shop, opened the Daily Shot in 2022.
‘Coffee is my passion, and it’s why I wanted to have my own business,’ he smiles.
‘We offer a 70-30 Arabica mix and a 100% Guatemalan (they make an excellent contrast) as well as decaff, and we also sell the coffee beans and a range of brewing equipment.’
After closing at 4pm the Daily Shot is available as a venue for hire for private parties, classes and courses and events of all kinds; being so close to neighbourhood schools, it’s particularly popular for children’s parties. ‘We can provide all the food and drinks, or clients are welcome to bring their own,’ says Renaldo. ‘I want people to make use of our space and we have different packages at very competitive prices.
‘We are dog-friendly, we have plenty of outdoor seating and our philosophy is to provide a relaxed atmosphere in which customers can take a break, catch up with work or enjoy seeing friends. We look forward to meeting you!’
