Much loved by those in the know, the Kama Sutra is still something of a ‘best-kept secret’ beyond its loyal local clientele. Admittedly, the restaurant is quite easy to miss; it is tucked away off King Street (in Holcombe Street) near the Hammersmith & Fulham Council offices.

‘If I was asked to describe our cuisine in a word it would be: authentic. I’ve known our experienced chefs, Dinesh and Ram, for many years – they used to work for the prestigious Taj Hotels Group – and we’re proud to offer traditional North Indian cuisine with an emphasis on Punjabi recipes.’ says Hem Chandra Pandey, the charming manager.

So which dishes would Mr Pandey recommend? ‘Definitely the Kama Sutra Mixed Platter, which is perfect for sharing, and the Rajasthani Laal Maas (lamb cooked with coriander and garam masala) and Malabar Fish Curry (sea bass marinated in coconut milk) are very popular. Then there’s my own Chicken Kamasutra: it’s a Chicken Tikka, but I can’t reveal the recipe!’
