All the ingredients for success – Kama Sutra brings fresh, high quality North Indian cuisine to West London

If, by chance, you’re familiar with Edinburgh’s dining scene, the Kama Sutra will be a familiar name. It is one of the city’s best-known Indian restaurants (there’s another in Glasgow) and, since March, the first branch south of the border has been open in Hammersmith.

Tucked away off King Street (opposite The Salutation), the Kama Sutra is already rated 5* on TripAdvisor and 4.7 out of 5 on Google Reviews. ‘I used to work in this area many years ago and it’s lovely to be back,’ smiles Hem Chandra Pandey, a partner in the business. ‘If I was asked to describe our food in one word it would be: authentic. My chef is very experienced – he used to work for the prestigious Taj Hotels in India – and we’re proud to serve traditional Indian cuisine, with an emphasis on Punjabi recipes.’

So which dishes would he recommend to the first-time visitor? ‘The Tandoori Mixed Platter and Chicken Shaslik are very popular, our lamb dish, Rajasthani Laal Maas, is delicious, as is the Kolkata Fish Curry. Then there’s my own creation, Chicken Kamasutra: it’s a Chicken Tikka but, of course, I can’t reveal the recipe!’

With tempting lunch offers – choose a main for £8 (£7 vegetarian) and you receive rice and naan free – takeaway service, excellent wine list and cocktails, two Christmas menu options (at £30 and £20 pp) and an upstairs room accommodating 50 people which is perfect for private parties, Kama Sutra is an exciting new arrival in West London. ‘You’ll receive a warm welcome and good service,’ says Mr Pandey. ‘And I’m sure you will like our food!’
