‘We’ll tackle anything – computers, tablets, phones, PCs – and I’d estimate that we fix 97% of problems.’ Steve Bonnici has run Chiswick Computers since 2003 (originally the company was based in Chiswick, hence the name, and it is now located on King Street). In that time he has built an excellent reputation for expertise and customer service and, in 2016, was awarded Which? Trusted Trader status.

Over the last five years, issues with Apple products – broken screens, dying batteries and, with older models, a failing hard drive – have grown from 10% to 50% of Steve’s business. ‘All Apple repairs are done in-house. When it comes to tracing and resolving faults, experience is our best asset. There’s little that we haven’t seen and done before.’

Steve is still hands-on, personally providing IT support for office and home-based businesses and families – he is currently building and installing a system for a 93 year-old ‘No two customers are the same, and that’s why I like to develop a relationship with each one,’ he says. ‘By understanding exactly how they operate, I can tailor what we do to their requirements. And when a client needs assistance, I try to respond straight away.’

A popular part of the Chiswick Computers service is the Remote Monitoring and Management package. ‘For a fixed monthly fee, we install software that remotely manages a business computer system, carrying out updates and detecting problems as they happen,’ explains Steve. ‘It’s a preventative alternative to the traditional break/fix scenario.’

Since the cost of remote monitoring has reduced appreciably, Steve also now offers this option to home owners. ‘And, of course, we provide walk-in counter assistance at our shop – if we can fix something on the spot or give advice, we’ll do so.’

Steve is backed up by a highly qualified team of technicians, some based in the workshop and others handling call-outs.
