As in all industries, fashions come and go rapidly in the world of tiles. And, according to Peter Hughes, co-owner of Hugo Ceramicas (Intceram Ltd), the stylish ceramic and porcelain tile showroom on the High Road, big is best at the moment.
‘Since we opened in Chiswick last year, our retail sales have grown nicely and much of that has been driven by the demand for large 60 x 120cm and 80 x 80cm product ranges,’ he explains. ‘In fact, on our very first day in business, four customers came in and ordered 60 x120cm tiles. I’m also delighted that we’re securing excellent corporate contracts; for example, recently we supplied the new tiles for the swimming pool at the Hogarth Club.’
The showroom stocks a huge array of designs in different formats and effects – polished, stone, cement, marble, wood and many more – and this autumn Peter will be attending industry trade shows to choose new products. That means, whatever the hot trend and whether your personal taste is decorative or practical, large or small, you’ll always be spoilt for choice at Hugo Ceramicas.
