Clay and Joe
The Carpetstore is now stocking new eco-friendly carpets and underlay that combat marine litter and plastic waste
There’s precious little that Clay and Joe Miller don’t know about carpets and flooring. The brothers have been running The Carpetstore for 25 years and, in that time, they have seen products developed, tastes change and trends come and go. So, when they are impressed by a brand new range, and one with impeccable green credentials, it’s worth taking note.
‘The quality of Sedna carpets is amazing – they are soft and durable and I’d have them in my home without any hesitation,’ says Clay. ‘The yarn is spun from abandoned fishing nets; according to the manufacturer, nets comprise one-tenth of marine litter and trap tens of thousands of creatures every year. The carpet has already been a hit in the USA and we’re the only stockists in West London. It comes in two qualities: a twist pile for stairs and living rooms and a Saxony, which is a luxurious deep pile perfect for bedrooms.’
That’s not the only innovative eco-friendly product that the Carpetstore is carrying this winter. ‘The production company which is making George Clarke’s TV programme asked us to be filmed fitting an underlay that is recycled from plastic waste. Again, it was excellent – really thick and effective and we now have that too.’
Customers at The Carpetstore are always spoilt for choice. Clay and Joe have a huge selection of contemporary and classic designs for all budgets as well as made-to-measure bespoke rugs, stair runners and a wide range of vinyl, tile and laminate flooring. One thing is certain, whether it’s a carpet, rug or runner, there won’t be an issue with moths. ‘Everything is mothtreated,’ says Clay. ‘A chemical is put on the yarn as it is spun; it’s built into the carpet rather than just being sprayed on top. That works perfectly.’
With their own experienced fitters, The Carpetstore will also lay hardboard, ply and latex sub-floors, trim doors and, whether you’re investing in carpet or flooring, Clay and Joe and their team will provide straightforward advice to help you choose the best style for your home.
