Metropolitan Safe Deposits’ vaults on Chiswick High Road combine multi-layered alarm and surveillance systems with physical protection to create an affordable, convenient facility (currently restricted to Mon-Sun 10am-4pm). ‘Demand has remained high this year,’ adds Christopher. ‘I believe the wider sense of public caution during the pandemic has encouraged more people to rent safe deposit boxes.’
At full capacity, the Chiswick vaults will contain over 7000 boxes in 12 sizes; the smallest, which is perfect for storing keepsakes, rings or watches,costs £95 p.a. including £10,000 complimentary insurance. ’We know who, what, when and where at all times,’ explains Christopher. ‘The security network begins with 24/7 CCTV of the perimeter and interior (except for private viewing cubicles) and that is also monitored by our other premises.
‘The building is equipped with seismic and stress detectors and the “secure area” beyond reception has bullet-resistant airlock doors with magnetic, mechanical and electronic locks. In addition, we have three integrated alarm systems and client access is controlled by computer-verified ID and biometric fingerprint procedures. Each safe deposit box is individually alarmed and we are alerted if more than a given number are open at one time.’
The Chiswick team follows all Covid-19 guidelines and the company has invested in works to make the premises compliant. ‘To my knowledge, this type of vault has never been breached,’ says Christopher. ‘If one system is cut off, a back-up is in place. We offer customers the peace of mind that comes with knowing their treasured possessions are in safe keeping.’
