It has been an exciting year for everyone at Aristone Optical. Having renovated his Victorian premises on North End Road, owner Ritesh created a smartly refurbished open-plan environment. There is now space to accommodate both the latest diagnostic equipment and a workshop that provides a same-day turnaround for lens cutting and repairs and where glasses are made, usually within a week.
While project-managing the building transformation, Ritesh also designed Aristone’s first signature brand of bespoke frames. Launched in Spring last year, reaction to the ao collection was so positive that subsequently he expanded the range.
Ritesh has been joined at the ‘new-look’ Aristone by Laura. ‘I started 11 months ago and it’s been really enjoyable,’ she says. ‘As an Optical Assistant my role includes providing a warm welcome – of course! – and putting customers immediately at their ease. I can then guide them through the process of choosing a lens based on their prescription. We have a huge variety of lenses in stock – we work primarily with Essilor and Zeiss – and we find the best options for exactly what is required.
‘I can also advise on styles of frame. We offer a superb choice for every budget and lifestyle, including designer ranges (Tom Ford, Ralph Lauren, Wolf Eyewear and Lindberg), and the exciting new generation of Smart Glasses (Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarers and Nuance Audio).’
Whether it’s an eye test, fitting contact lenses or glaucoma or diabetic screening, the Aristone team create a relaxed atmosphere and always take the time to answer questions. ‘When I came here, Ritesh explained to me how Aristone has looked after generations of local families,’ recalls Laura. ‘Getting to know the customers makes the job so interesting. I love the family atmosphere.’
