This is a significant anniversary year for Home Instead. Launched in the UK two decades ago, it has been proudly serving the Chiswick and Hammersmith community for 15 years. In that time, the business has become the only Home Care provider to receive the Queen’s Award for Innovation; and the West London team, led by Maddy Alemayehu (RGN), has been a finalist at the national Dementia Care Awards and rated Outstanding in its latest Care Quality Commission report.
‘To celebrate those milestones, we have a brand new look with an updated logo and colour palette – we’ve gone green,’ explains Maddy. ‘However, while the presentation has changed, our philosophy is the same: we are committed to delivering tailored support that enables clients to live independently and happily where they feel comfortable – in their homes.’
Home Instead provides bespoke Home Help, Companionship and Personal and Respite Care as well as specialist packages for those with Dementia and Parkinson’s and requiring Palliative Care. ‘People are often surprised by the sheer scope of the service,’ says Maddy.
‘We prepare nutritional meals, do the laundry, arrange social activities, help with pets, give medication and liaise with relatives and the GP – and we do it with a smile! Most importantly, there is continuity of care: clients see the same Care Professional – our in-house training won a UK-recognised Princess Royal award – and we always place great emphasis on finding points of contact between them.
‘As well as being accessible and responsive, we also play a pro-active role in the local community by organising regular events, for example popular afternoon tea parties, and we’re always happy to chat and advise.
