Save yourself a stressful shopping trip into Town! W6 Garden Centre is the local one-stop destination for stylish home and lifestyle gifts, a choice of premium quality Christmas trees and festive fun for the whole family.
However wonderful Christmas may have been, there is usually a sense of relief-cum-exhaustion about being able to wind down when it is over. Not so for Paul Holt, the Creative Director of W6 Garden Centre. When everyone else is recovering, Paul is already in planning mode, sourcing items for the next festive season at W6’s pop-up shopping space, the Winter Cabin.
‘For me, the process starts in January with a Christmas trade fair in Germany,’ he smiles. ‘I’m always seeking fresh inspiration – perhaps from new colour palettes or materials – and that makes it exciting. Initially, I look for a theme and then cherry-pick pieces from different suppliers to build a cohesive collection.’
Paul’s 2024 concept is a traditional log cabin in the woods at Winter and he has designed beautiful displays to showcase stylish lifestyle and home décor gifts for all tastes and budgets. Christmas shoppers will be spoilt for choice with vases, bowls, plates, mugs, candlesticks, planters, glassware, ceramics, coasters, basketware and, of course, exquisite decorations.
W6 Garden Centre is renowned for supplying premium quality living and cut Christmas trees, and this year is no exception. ‘Customers can pick from a range of favourites and more unusual varieties,’ says Manager, Louise Alhadeff.
‘Among them are Slimline Fraser Firs, which are perfect for small spaces, Noble Firs with striking blue-green foliage, and the popular non-drop Nordmann Firs, which are ideal for hanging ornaments and lights. In addition, we have attractive plain and decorated wreaths, UK-grown poinsettias, bulb arrangements and mistletoe and holly.
‘All the trees can be ordered for home delivery (£5 for addresses in W6, W4 and W12) and our team will lift large specimens onto stands. And if someone can’t make it to W6, I will choose a tree for them. Just order online and tell me the requirements – type, size and shape – and I’ll pick out a lovely tree.
It’s all part of the personal service!’ While Paul has been busily curating the Winter Cabin, Louise’s team has focused on expanding the gift selection in W6’s main shop.
‘We’re really pleased, it’s bigger and better than ever with ideas for all ages, including practical gifts for gardeners, luxury soaps, bath salts and hand creams, puzzles, games and French Djeco toys for children and cards, calendars and stationery from the Museums and Galleries collection.
‘And, if you know a houseplant fan, don’t forget to drop into the Green Room. Our floor-to-ceiling oasis has a fabulous array of plants – from the well-known to the exotic – and our experts will be on hand to give advice and practical care tips.’
Of course, W6’s Café is the perfect place to take a break or meet friends, and it has just launched a Winter Menu serving breakfast, brunch and lunch with gluten and vegan-free options. The Chef’s soup is served all day and other tempting highlights include a garden winter salad, falafel wraps, a curry bowl and, of course, hot chocolate and delicious cakes.
‘It’s lovely that so many locals now make coming here a regular December date in the diary,’ says Louise. ‘We have transformed W6 into a Christmas wonderland and Father Christmas himself will be visiting and handing out presents on Saturdays 7 and 14 December. Do come and join us: we will make sure that everyone has the best experience and gets into the spirit of Christmas.’
