Whether for glasses or contacts lens, repairs or eye screening, Aristone is SW6’s family-friendly independent specialist
‘We are unusual in that we have our own on-site workshop – few other independent opticians or major chains have that facility,’ says Ritesh, the owner of Aristone Optical near Fulham Broadway. ‘It allows us to provide a same-day service for cutting lenses and taking care of urgent repairs and alterations.
‘Last year we invested in state-of-the-art machinery with which we can cut, grind and polish a lens to 0.1 degree accuracy in a minute.
‘We’ve found that customers from outside SW6 find us online and travel here just because we offer such a fast turnaround time. For example, recently we had a lady who came from Suffolk to have us make her glasses; also, we regularly send glasses abroad to ex-Fulham residents who still prefer to use our service.’
Looking after the eyes of generations of Fulham families, Aristone Optical has been a constant in local life for seven decades, and Ritesh has owned the business for 13 years. Customer of service is at the heart of his approach.
‘We never use a conveyor belt approach. It’s so much better to sit down with clients and take the time to answer their questions, provide options and make informed recommendations. And, for us as a team, it’s far more enjoyable to get to know people.’
In recent years Ritesh has expanded Aristone’s stock to include a wide choice of frames, including stylish designer ranges as well as a huge variety of prescription lenses. ‘Rather than picking just a few glasses from many different brands, I prefer to showcase the full spectrum from companies such as Ray Ban, Tom Ford and Lindberg; they are fashion-conscious, stylish and stand out in their use of high quality raw materials.
‘We’ll definitely have a style and shape of frame for every taste and budget and, whether it’s an eye test, glaucoma or diabetic screening or fitting contact lens, we always tailor our approach to the individual.’
