Schmidt blends the perfect ingredients for the modern kitchen: German precision, French flair and old-fashioned customer service

‘My parents used to call it the “Crisis Hour.” It’s that point in the typical family day when Mum and Dad are catching up after work, the children are doing their homework, dinner is on the go and the pets are being fed.’

Lisa-Marie Johnson, Showroom Manager of Schmidt Kitchens, is describing a familiar scene. ’And that is all happening in the kitchen,’ she smiles. ‘They are today’s living rooms – it’s why kitchens look less utilitarian and much more like furniture these days.’

Schmidt is a fast-growing name in the kitchen market. Founded in Germany 70 years ago, the family-owned operation later moved production to the Alsace region of France, where it is now the country’s largest kitchen manufacturer.
