Scoop up some ice cream delight
On a hot, sunny day, there’s no more tempting treat than an ice cream. In Hammersmith the very best gelati are made by the young Colombian/Brazilian (Diego and Suzy) husband and wife team who run the two branches of Berlotti.
Customers can choose from an amazing array of flavours. ’We make our own gelati and sorbets using only natural ingredients and fresh fruits,’ he says. ‘They have a rich, creamy taste, there are no preservatives and the fat and sugar content is low.’
Wisely, given the vagaries of the British weather, the duo also serve excellent coffee, delicious pastries, homemade cakes, bagels, pannini, sandwiches, pancakes and waffles and, at the Goldhawk Road parlour, they host children’s birthday parties (there are three different packages available). And what flavour of ice cream would Diego recommend trying: ‘I like them all, but I do think the cheesecake is really special…’
