The Gasworks London team always advises customers to schedule and carry out major boiler upgrades and essential heating maintenance over the Spring and Summer months, when the systems are used less and domestic disruption is easier to manage. Exactly the same principle applies to Air Conditioning, only in reverse.
‘As temperatures rocketed earlier this year, so many people got in touch with us enquiring about the installation of Air Conditioning – and, of course, they wanted to have the job done as quickly as possible,’ says Dave Halpin, the owner of Gasworks. ‘The problem was, everyone else had exactly the same idea. With such an unprecedented spike in demand, appointments inevitably slowed up and the equipment actually became much harder to source.
‘The solution is to put plans in place during the colder months. Then home and business owners can take their time deciding on the most suitable system for their property – and arrange the work when it is convenient.
‘Most importantly, there’s an excellent financial reason for taking action in the next six months or so: qualifying domestic Air Conditioning installations currently benefit from 0% VAT, but this very helpful relief is only due to run until 31 March 2027.’
Modern air conditioning units also have a valuable role to play long beyond the Summer. ‘It’s wrong to think they are useful solely in periods of extremely hot weather,’ explains Dave. ‘As well as cooling, high quality systems provide efficient heating and air filtration and come with smart controls and dedicated temperature settings for different rooms.’
