Hearing Well: Sounds Good

Deepak Jagota

Combining professional expertise and personal service, Deepak Jagota of Hearing Well is spreading the joy of better hearing

Two years ago, when awardwinning audiologist Deepak Jagota launched his practice in Chiswick, he instantly felt very at home. There was a good reason. ‘I was actually born in the old Cottage Hospital on Netheravon Road South,’ he smiles. ‘The fact that I’m based just across the High Road is sheer coincidence – it feels like destiny.’

Deepak is the owner of Hearing Well. He delivers a comprehensive range of audiology services, from conducting hearing tests and prescribing hearing aids to micro-suction earwax removal, tinnitus assessment and therapeutic advice for those with ear health issues.

Having studied Electronic Engineering and become a Sound Engineer, Deepak then decided to combine the disciplines. ‘I knew about electronics and sound, so I thought it would be very satisfying to help people to hear better.’ After 10 years working for companies such as Boots and Hidden Hearing, he struck out on his own and acquired his Chiswick clinic.

‘I’ve invested in the very best testing equipment and, as an independent audiologist, I can choose the most suitable solutions from all the leading manufacturers. So, if a particular device isn’t quite working out, I can always suggest an alternative. That flexibility also applies to the cost and cosmetic appearance of the hearing aid.’

Personal customer care is the bedrock of Deepak’s business. ‘I allocate as much time as necessary for each patient. It’s not a conveyor belt. If, for example, an elderly person needs longer to chat to me, that’s a pleasure. Equally important, my patients receive a long-term aftercare package which includes a “F1 pitstop” every six months. Also, when I see patients with ear wax problems, I take a photograph of the ear so they can see exactly what’s wrong and then, afterwards, another of a beautifully clear eardrum.’

Deepak is Chair of Chiswick’s Tinnitus Support Group and last year he volunteered on an audiology charity mission to Armenia. ‘I love what I
do,’ he smiles. ’Life is just too short to put up with something that reduces the simple joy of connecting with others.’
