‘The majority of companies don’t deliver the breadth and quality of care services that we do,’ says Maddy Alemayehu, Director of Home Instead Chiswick and Hammersmith. ‘For example, our Care Professionals will administer and collect medication, prepare fresh meals, change bedclothes and do the laundry, put out rubbish, organise social activities and help with pets.
‘I believe that the scope of what we offer together with the way we train and supervise Care Professionals – our in-house training is accredited by City & Guilds and won a Princess Royal Training award – are two key reasons why Home Instead was judged Outstanding Overall in its 2023 Care Quality Commission (CQC) report. Only 5% of home care organisations achieve that rating.’
For over 10 years Home Instead has provided bespoke care to clients, including Home Help, Companionship and Personal Care, as well as specialist packages for those living with Dementia and Parkinson’s and needing Palliative Care. ‘Our Care Professionals are chosen for their empathy and we place huge emphasis on finding points of contact between them and clients,’ explains Maddy.
‘The Home Instead philosophy is founded on continuity of care. We ensure that clients see the same Care Professional, and that is particularly appropriate for people living with chronic conditions such as heart failure or recovering from a stroke. It is vital to have a carer who knows them well and will identify issues early. For example, we can test for urinary infections and, if the result is positive, inform the GP, collect antibiotics and ensure that the client follows the course.
