Rocks Lane Chiswick now offers an adult fitness training programme
‘We create a friendly, supportive atmosphere in which everyone exercises at their own pace,’ explains Oscar Jackson, who is leading Rocks Lane Chiswick’s recently launched adult group training sessions. ‘We get results but no one is forced to do anything – it’s not a boot camp!’
Oscar is a familiar face at Rocks Lane, having worked there as a football and tennis coach for 10 years. ‘The key idea is to ensure that the work-outs are suitable for all ages – and we already have regulars aged 16 to 75 – and every level of fitness. You don’t have to be fit to join us!’
Over the last 20 years Rocks Lane Multi Sports Centre has become a popular sporting hub, offering five-a-side football, netball, tennis, padel and mini multi- sports for all ages and abilities.
‘We use the five-a-side pitch,’ says Oscar. ‘There’s plenty of room and, if the weather is bad, we put up a large gazebo. I vary the content to keep the training interesting: the aim is to build muscle strength and endurance and improve cardio capacity, flexibility and body tone (on Thursday evenings there’s a focus on padel fitness). And we finish with stretching and a drink in our café (showers are available).
‘Working out in a group (maximum 10 people) encourages camaraderie and a little healthy competition. We are offering a free first session and so, if you want to enjoy getting fit and meet new people, we would love to see you here.’
