All companies in the Care sector submit to inspections by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The latest CQC report on Home Instead Chiswick and Hammersmith was published in August: the company was rated Outstanding Overall, Outstanding in three of five key categories, and Good in the other two.
‘We’re all thrilled,’ smiles Director, Maddy Alemayehu. ‘It’s a wonderful recognition of the hard work everyone puts in and a validation of our approach to delivering the very best bespoke specialist care. The Inspector talked to clients and other professionals, such as GPs and District Nurses, who see the positive impact our Care Professionals make on the ground.’
Home Instead offers personal assistance, including Home Help and Companionship, Dementia, Respite and 24/7 Live-in Care, which enables its clients to stay where they love living. In particular, the CQC Inspector highlighted how the Care Professionals are ‘exceptionally well trained’ and praised ‘the innovative learning opportunities provided outside normal courses.’
A perfect example was a recent cookery class organised with KitchenJoy’s local Cookery School. ‘One of our most important tasks is food preparation and, of course, we want it to be tasty and nutritious,’ explains Maddy. ‘So, the aim was to teach Care Professionals who are less familiar with “traditional” British cookery how to make meals that our clients will like.’
The CQC report also noted the attention given to matching Care Professionals with their clients. ‘We place huge emphasis on finding points of contact based on background, personality and interests,’ confirms Maddy. ‘That helps with our Companionship service but, for all our clients, we want to build close relationships that are much more than purely professional.’ To view the CQC report, visit: https://www.cqc.org.uk/location/1-379829467?referer=widget3
