New England carpet (Woodstock colour), Unnatural Flooring
The advice received was very helpful and the carpet fitting went smoothly. I am delighted with the results.’– Marianne Megarbane
Clay and Joe Miller, co-owners of the Carpetstore, deal with 90% of industry manufacturers. Hence, they are able to stock the widest selection of classic and contemporary carpets, made-to-measure bespoke rugs and stair runners and vinyl, tile and laminate flooring.
Naturally, over their 30 years in the trade, the brothers have seen many trends come and go. But even they have been taken aback by the demand for a range from Unnatural Flooring. ‘It’s a man-made alternative to sisal,’ says Clay. ‘We have enquiries every day.’
‘If you spill tea, coffee or wine on natural sisal, the stain can’t be removed; in contrast, Unnatural’s sisal-look is washable, hard-wearing and totally stain-resistant. Made from woven vinyl, the carpets come in a variety of stylish designs and they look and feel just like sisal. The finish is just so sharp.’
Clay and Joe use their own professional fitters on every job and that is particularly important when working with materials such as man-made sisal. ‘It is fitted by sticking the underlay to the floor and then sticking the carpet to the underlay. That can be tricky as every contour is revealed: it takes experience and skill to work with those type of products.’
The Carpetstore has seven two-man teams (full and part-time) and most have been with the company for over 10 years. ‘They will take up old carpets, move large items of furniture, trim doors on site and prepare floors by laying plyboard and hardboard,’ explains Clay. ‘We always advise clients if we think a surface needs attention and price that work separately so they can make an informed decision.’
Clay and Joe guarantee that all their carpets are moth-free and, if you are investing in new flooring, you’ll receive practical advice and a first-class fitting experience from experts.
