‘This premises used to be dark and cramped and, when we were renovating the space, passers-by kept peering in to see what was happening,’ smiles Mimi Arab, the charming General Manager of Vaiya, a stylish new coffee, breakfast and brunch venue in Ravenscourt Park.
‘That natural curiosity only increased when our signage went up. Vaiya means Dream Up High and that reflects our vision for the business: the aim is to create a welcoming haven where customers can take their time and enjoy speciality coffees and teas, juices and smoothies and a cosmopolitan menu.’
The global inspiration for the dishes, which are freshly prepared and come in generous helpings, is clear from the breakfast selection alone: customers can choose from a traditional English; Vegan; Middle Eastern (sumac fried eggs, Merguez sausages, falafel and tahini with molasses); Turkish (poached eggs wth dill yoghurt, sucuk, honey, beetroot hummus and salad); and, for the very hungry, there’s the The Stack, which comprises pancake layers, beef paté, hash browns and rashers with an egg on top and maple syrup on the side.
‘Customers seem to love our pancakes,’ adds Mimi. ‘We also serve them as tacos with either a sweet or savoury filling and, if you have a sweet tooth, I recommend the decadent Biscoff and Banana French toast with caramel sauce.’
Vaiya’s interior is spacious, light and comfortable and the perfect venue for birthday parties. ‘We are introducing a Loyalty Card and will soon be licensed and starting deliveries,’ says Mimi.
‘The local community has given us such a warm reception – we already have some lovely regulars – and we would like to invite everyone to come and try our menu.’ Vaiya is open Monday to Thursday 8am-5pm, Friday to Saturday 8am-6pm and Sunday 9am-6pm.
