Adam and Potsie Hairdressing: An Award-Winning Salon

Adam, Potsie and Alana

First-class professional hair care with a delightful personal touch

The first thing you notice about Adam and Potsie’s hairdressing salon in Ravenscourt Park is the gallery of smiling customers. When I last met the duo their business had been open for six months, but there were already 400 passport-style shots adorning the walls: eighteen months on, that figure is near 1000 and in 2018 they were voted Hammersmith’s Best Independent Salon.

‘We’d like to thank everyone who has supported us,’ smiles Adam. ‘Our business is about treating people as individuals and making them feel positive, so the gallery seemed a good idea. It’s a lovely way to bring our “community” together and it also helps to make new clients feel at home here.’

Adam and Potsie owned the Essensuals/Toni&Guy salon in Hammersmith for 15 years, building a 20-strong team and attracting a loyal local following. When that venture came to an end, and after a spell as a Director at Toni&Guy in Chiswick, Adam decided the time was right for them to launch an independent salon. ‘We had many regulars from both Chiswick and Hammersmith, so this location was perfect for us.’

Unsurprisingly, with so much experience, the couple have a clearly defined business philosophy. While they offer all the creative flair and technical skills of a major salon – Potsie is a superb colour technician and Adam is the master of cutting and blow-drying – what matters most is what Potsie calls ‘a genuinely friendly service.’

‘In some salons, it seems like you’re on an impersonal conveyor belt,’ she explains. ‘That’s not the way we work. We listen carefully to what our customers want – we provide the complimentary drinks – and we’re happy to give advice, make suggestions and provide free no-obligation consultations.’

‘We want people to come to us and be confident that they’ll be completely satisfied with the results,’ adds Adam. ‘We can bring every style and colour to life and handle everything from cuts and re-styles to wedding and party hair. We deliver consistent high quality – and leave clients with a smile on their faces.’

About Editor

Online editor at Keep Things Local

The company publishes four flagship magazines (Chelsea Locals, Chiswick Locals, Richmond Locals and Hammersmith Locals) with more launches planned in London and across the UK. The prime focus of each of these quarterly magazines is to showcase and support the independent traders and small businesses who do so much to give these areas their individual retail character and community spirit. This is achieved through dedicated advertorials which are written, designed and photographed by an experienced team lead by Neil McKelvie.

In every issue, these advertorials are complemented by feature articles which turn the spotlight on different aspects of neighbourhood life and interviews with notable local figures. In addition to appearing in the magazines, every advertorial is also published in the Keep Things Local newsletters, on the website and on social media. Get in touch to be featured in our Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring issues.
