The true taste of Italy in Brook Green

‘Our cuisine represents the true passion and spirit of Italian food,’ says Pier Paolo Bassani. ‘We believe in natural, authentic flavours and simple, carefully sourced ingredients.’ Pier Paolo is one of a group of Italian friends from Brook Green who have got together to open Farina & More, a new restaurant, deli and coffee shop.

With 26 years experience as a chef in Italy and London, Pier Paolo is the professor of pizzas. ‘Our dough contains 80% water which makes it very light,’ he explains. ‘It matures for 72 hours (it’s usually 24 hours) and we use multi-cereal, stoneground organic flour. I don’t think you’ll find a similar pizza in London, and our customers love them.’

From the restaurant menu the fresh seafood dishes, such as lobster, octopus and mussels, are proving very popular and the deli/coffee shop is already attracting a keen following during the day. ‘We have delicious pastries and Musetti Italian coffee,’ says Pier Paolo. ‘But we also serve classic English breakfasts like Eggs Benedict.

‘Our charcuterie and cheeses come direct from Italy and we have an excellent selection of Italian wines and proseccos and gluten-free and vegan options. We’re family-friendly, informal and we really want to become part of the local community.’
