A coaching inn was first recorded on the site of the Rook’s Nest in 1710. So it’s most appropriate that nothing reflects the transformation of the business (it was formerly Flynn’s Pub & Townhouse) more than its excellent, highly praised accommodation.
James Fitzgerald has masterminded that re-invention process. ‘We’re a close-knit team and we’ve all worked really hard to create a warm, family-friendly atmosphere.
‘We opened our boutique-style rooms (they have free WiFi and tea and coffee-making facilities) four years ago and they’ve become very popular. We have 11 in all: there are two suites with super king-size beds and a living area, and the others are doubles or twins, depending on what best suits the guest.’
Current online ratings confirm that James has a winning formula – and many happy clients worldwide. ‘We have a 4.5 out of 5 rating on TripAdvisor, 9.5 out of 10 on booking.com and a 100% recommendation on Expedia. We’re proud of that positive feedback and determined to maintain those standards.’
Judging from customer comments, the generous breakfasts are much appreciated – as James says, ‘no one ever goes away hungry’ – as is the attention to detail.
