W6 Garden Centre and Café: Have Yourself A Magical Christmas

Paul and Louise

With stylish gifts and decorations, premium quality cut and living Christmas trees and a children’s Winter Wonderland, there’s festive fun and inspiration for the whole family at W6 Garden Centre

‘We’re pulling out all the stops this Christmas,’ smiles W6 Garden Centre Manager, Louise Alhadeff. ‘It’s lovely that families make coming here a regular date in their festive diary, and this year everything is bigger, better and more exciting than ever.’

One of the highlights of a W6 Christmas is the Winter Cabin and, as ever, Creative Director Paul Holt has sourced an eclectic range of glorious gift ideas for the pop-up shopping space. ‘We have wonderfully stylish lifestyle and home decor objects, among them elegant vases, baubles, cushions and exquisite decorations – something for every taste and budget,’ says Louise. ‘And, in the main shop, there’s a superb selection of soaps, calendars, French Djeco toys and gardening items.’

Ensuring that W6 has premium quality Christmas trees is a particular passion for Louise. ‘We work with an excellent supplier and the trees are delivered freshly cut (in two batches): this year customers will be spoilt for choice with favourites and rather more unusual specimens. We are stocking bushy Nordmann Firs, slimline Fraser Firs, which are perfect for small spaces, beautifully scented Nobles and five other varieties, including Koreana, Lodgepole Pine and Blue Spruce.

‘For those who want to keep a tree beyond Christmas, then we have living trees that are grown in pots and have fully developed root systems. If well watered and kept in cooler conditions – not next to the radiator – they can be transplanted into the garden or kept in an outside pot for next year.’ And if someone can’t get to W6 in person, Louise will personally pick out a tree for them.

‘I’m very fussy,’ she explains. ‘I’ll make sure that they get the best of the bunch!’
In addition, W6 will be offering potted arrangements and beautiful hand-made wreaths and a local delivery service is available four days a week. It must be booked in advance, costs £5 and the team is happy to help if assistance is needed to lift a heavy tree onto a stand.

‘For 2023, we decided to expand the children’s Winter Wonderland,’ says Louise. ‘It has been conceived and put together by Neil Wickes and there will be a fantastic Father Christmas house and the opportunity for children to have their photograph taken with Santa’s sleigh and deer. Also, the Green Room, our floor-to-ceiling oasis devoted to houseplants and their accessories, has a wide cross-section of plants from the well-known to the exotic – it’s the perfect place to find a gift and our experts will be on hand to give advice and care tips.’

Of course, if customers want to take a break, W6’s Café will be serving warming soups, mince pies, hot chocolate and delicious coffee and cakes (there will be outside heaters). ‘At Christmas, there’s such a friendly community atmosphere here,’ says Louise. ‘Do come and join us: we provide a local one-stop shop for all your gifts and could save you a stressful shopping trip into Town!’
