Nahid De Belgeonne
Hammersmith-based yoga teacher Nahid De Belgeonne has successfully adapted to the Covid-19 lockdown by switching all her teaching – both group sessions and one-to-ones – online.
In addition, Nahid is offering free restorative classes to NHS staff and key workers (every Friday at 8pm, except 22/5) and a free movement and meditation class for anyone in the community, in particular those who are alone (every Monday at 8.45am) at this time.
Nahid has practised yoga since 2000. She subsequently trained with some of the world’s most respected yoga teachers (including Simon Low and Gary Carter), founded the Good Vibes yoga and fitness studio in Central London and, for over 10 years, has taught a personal client list ranging from professional athletes, A-list actresses and City CEOs to people with Parkinsons or recovering from cancer. She is also a Somatics Movement coach, a re-learning neuro-muscular method that helps clients move more fluidly.
In that time Nahid has developed her own revolutionary form of yoga practice, which she calls The Human Method™. The emphasis is on blending slow, gentle yoga flow, somatic movements, restorative poses and breathing techniques to quieten the mind and calm stressed nervous systems. The classes are suitable for complete yoga beginners as well as the more experienced (the weekly schedule and booking details are on the website).
‘I pay special attention to the senses, focusing on physical and mental wellbeing while encouraging the body to move naturally and with more ease,’ she says. ‘I’ve found that my teaching works well on screen; I can see my clients easily and we’ve been doing some great work. The classes for NHS staff and the community have been very inspiring; we’ve built a friendly, mutually supportive group and I look forward to “seeing” them every week.’

Intelligent movement for physical and emotional agility
About
The Human Method – Rewire your brain + body to reduce anxiety + encourage positive transformational habits
The future of movement
The Human Method, brainchild of Nahid de Belgeonne, is a revolutionary re-learning movement system that works to intelligently harmonise the mind and body, dynamically transforming the health of everyone from exhausted and burned-out high fliers, A-list celebrities and athletes right through to clients recovering from illness, stress and anxiety.
Nahid’s The Human Method unique practice is about the beauty of the process to help reduce anxiety, eliminate frantic energy and align over-exerted bodies and minds. How? It blends mindful yoga flow, somatic movements and restorative yoga poses with breathing techniques and meditation, soothing your nervous system and rebooting your brain-to-body communication.
Ultimately, this works to re-wire your brain, to pay attention to the senses and allow the entirety of your physical and mental wellbeing to work more efficiently, while encouraging your body to move naturally, fluidly and with more ease.
This re-learning method encourages neuro-plasticity, strengthening the ability of the mind and body to stay agile, allowing you to enjoy life more fully.
