While I’m talking to architects Warren Hagues and Matt Hedges, the snow is falling on Askew Road. Naturally, the weather is the first topic of conversation. ‘It’s a good reminder that proper insulation is so important,’ smiles Warren.

And according to Clay Miller, who with his brother Joe has been running the Carpet Store for 25 years, one of the hottest current trends is for made-to- measure bespoke rugs.
‘We’re definitely seeing more demand,’ says Clay. ‘Where people used to have carpets in their living rooms, now stone and wood floors are popular.
